Inside the 2014 Renault F1 engine with Scarbs- Thank You very much ! Very informative video..
- This is all very high tech and all very brilliant but i cant shake off the sensation that they are deliberately making things more complicated than they need to be.
Like the thing with the turbo, rather than sitting there complaining about turbo lag and creating this overcomplicated system to spool up the turbo why not just use the method everyone who has wanted to get rid of turbo lag has been using and chain a smaller turbo to the existing one.
Personally what i would do would be to put a supercharger in the engine and hooking it up to a large turbo. That way you get the low rpm efficiency of the supercharger and the high rpm screaming power of the turbo throughout the whole range. Although the supercharger sort of runs out of steam in the higher ranges i believe that it is preferable to having a turbo ahead of the big turbo in the boost chain, at least for track racing purposes
- Impressive graphics, its all exceptionally clear to understand. thanks a lot.
- where is the carburetor ? :P
- Why the fuck do they need to bring
"hybrid" shit into racing?? Liberals poison everything. Its racing. The goal is to go as fast as you can. Not save the fuckin planet. Assholes. Fuck Al Gore and everyone like that shit stain.

- goddamit! fuck you google! i shouldnt have to watch a fucking commercial just to watch this shit which is basically just another a fucking comemrcial!
- I know why they're doing it but I miss the old high pitched scream of the old engines.
- Come on French Guys .... Build for 2015 a New Top Machine.
- Did you know that Renault where the first to introduce turbo into formula one engines ?
- Like a boat.
- New engine sounds shit.
- with this engine, the f1 will lose its popularity

A very good animation explaining how this year's F1 power units use turbo charging and kinetic energy recovery to generate and use power.

- I love how the piston engine is finally evolving... After nearly 140 years of suck squeeze bang blow it's about time something like this came through. I'm sure many of us always imagined something like this in an engine when we drive our cars and see how much wastage there is. My Mercedes clk 200 kompressor is 14 years old and does at best 30 mpg (when I'm able to abstain from planting my foot down lol) the innovation of what you can draw from such a small amount of fuel now is amazing! Everyone loves the sound of a raw piston engine but the whoosh is the sound of the future I'm afraid!
Has anyone seen Toyotas project? Where the engine pistons themselves generate the electricity by firing the piston up and down a static coil? Getting electrical power from a piston engine in its purest form possible. It's fascinating what can be done nowadays!
- Why would anyone dislike this video?
