Komentarze:
HOW TO Make Your Honda Outboard Motor Idle Good Again- I have a Honda 20hp and for some reason it does not give me its maximum speed - It seems to be running at only 1/2 of its speed - 9.9 boats pass me and it won't even lift the boat up - Any ideas?
- hi..I have Honda 9.9 outboard motor .Mostly I am using it for trolling. on the minimum speed it runs about 3.5 mil/hr..My question is how I can lower it to about 2.5 mil/hr?
thank you
- I have a 15hp honda four stroke..that idles fine and runs fine but engine gets hot and stalls then wont allow me to crank on till engine cool again? And concerned about the jet stream not evwn a drop of water...but nothing seems to be clogged ..should j be lookeng towards the water pump? Or the thermostat?
- I've a small 3,5 hp Yamaha (really old model) that idle nice! (even in forward) when it is in neutral it reacts good on trottle, but when you put it in forwards and give full trottle, it just stalls. I know: its running too lean, but, when you give full trottle in neutral, some smooky stuff came out the carb... what does that mean? does it get to much feul at that point? oww, by the way, its a two stroke engine with a reedvalve.
- I just looked at Tohatsu 4stroke 4hp. The bottom jet in bowl is so small I can not see through it. Something to do with ultra low emissions. Size .35
- Not to be that guy or anything but the first thing I noticed is that he has the waterline almost nearly to the power head you should keep it above the Anti ventilation plate your gonna get hydro locked an ruin your engine yet your giving advice on engines
- I worked on my 6 hp Tohatsu saved me allot of Thanks much. Save alot of Money
- Great tip. I have a Honda 15 running bad, so I'll check this.
- Thanks Don, great video fixed my problem in minutes.
- Hello donyboy. I bought a 7.5 hp Honda outboard on Craigslist. I think it's a mid-80's model. I have the problem that it will not idle when I go into the shift range. My carburetor is different from the one you show. I have disassembled and cleaned the carburetor with Gumout carburetor spray. I would like to soak the carb in a strong soak solution, but it has a plastic choke valve and I'm afraid that will dissolve during the soak. The choke valve doesn't appear to be removable. If you don't mind helping me out, I will send you some photos of the carb and answer any questions you may have. If you prefer to go offline, my email is dave.blackdiamond@gmail.com.
- nice!
- Thanks donyboy for this very helpful video! It solved my problem. As usual, my BF5 didn't start this spring, just like last year, and the year before, but instead of dropping $200 at the Honda dealer, I came across your video and gave it a try. Sure enough I pulled the jet and it was completely plugged. I cleaned it like you said, reinstalled it, and the motor started on the first try and has been running great all summer, starting on the first pull. The Honda repair guy told me the new motors are very efficient so the jets are smaller and have a tendency to plug up faster. An understatement! I'm pretty much doing everything I can except tucking the motor into bed at night. I buy fresh non-oxygenated gas each Spring, only keep about 3 gallons in the tank, close the tank vent when not using it, remove the gas line from the motor and run the engine dry if I'm leaving it set for more than a day, and run the correct amount of Mercury gas stabilizer in the gas. Can't do much more than that. Thanks for sharing your solution for clearing the plugged jet. I will just add a jet cleaning to the Fall winterization.
- hi don im still waiting on your answer with my 15 hp but i looked at the top of the motor and it is a lot different from the 5hp so if you can let me know i would be grateful. thank you
- A cheap set of guitar strings work nice, and they vary in diameter.
- Excellent I will try that on my outboard as its very similiar. Honda 9.9 hp. Cheers
- You know on those Honda motors, it's a dual function stop switch... you can just press the button. You don't have to pull the clip to stop it.
- i have the 15 hp honda with the same problem.what should i do.
- ^helped my H8nda purr like a kitten.
- Love your vids Don. I recently worked on 2 Honda powered push mowers that run well under load but idle funny --- kind of a rolling/cycling rpms up and down.. Any ideas?
P.S. Regarding the negative comments from Mr. Danny Boggs. I think it was the 4th grade when I was taught that if you are going to use the term idiot to describe someone; that someone would be called an idiot not a idiot. So who's the not so intelligent one?
- You are a GENIUS! We have been living with this problem for over 5 years. Even after the local shop did a carb 'rebuild'. Yeh, right. Your fix worked perfectly. Thanks!
